And that’s why I keep a cool wedding flatlay styling kit that I bring to every wedding. No matter the budget. So are you curious what I keep in mine for styling your wedding details?

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER STYLING KIT

Here’s everything I keep in my styling kit. And I even provided direct links to where to purchase everything.

ORGANIZATION

• Knee Pad // I use this inexpensive gardening knee pad to cushion my knees while styling. I used to come home with bruises on my knees before I used this!
• Styling Surfaces // My favorites are my Suzy Pierce Styling Mats but I’ve also used Heirloom Bindery boards. I love Suzy’s mats because there’s so much texture, color and of course glitter!
• Craft Box // Something to keep all your tools in! I love this one from Michael’s because it’s simple… and mine is pink.

JEWELRY STYLING

• Ring Boxes // Most of mine are from The Mrs. Box and Amonie Ring Boxes. But you can use anything that you like. I’ve ordered ones like this from Amazon. But I ultimately decided I valued the brand recognition of the higher end ones for cross marketing.
• Jewelry Boxes // I don’t use these as often because many of my brides have long earrings. But sometimes a bride has a beautiful pair of studs that fit perfectly in these Amonie Jewelry Boxes.
• Ring Dishes + Jewelry Dishes // I’ve tried so many of these over the years. And my favorites are the ones from Simple Things Ceramics. They’re pretty flat, white and really simple. They make for the perfect styled jewelry photos!

FLORAL STYLING

• Washi Tape // Instead of buying tons of flower frogs (which I have in the past), my sweet friend Ashley Baumgartner (the flatlay queen) recommended plain rolls of washi tape for holding up florals. And she was so right!
• Flower Shears // These ones from Amazon are super handy. I highly recommend carrying some type of shears to help cut those blooms for your flatlays.

STATIONERY STYLING

• White Ceramic Plates // I mostly use these for paperie and other stationery goods. They add dimension and a layer of detail to photos! And I got two different sizes from Crate & Barrel.
• Silk Ribbon // I must admit that I don’t use these super often. And that’s why I haven’t invested in high quality ribbon tools. But sometimes I use these that I got in a set from Amazon!
• Acrylic Blocks // These ones from Heirloom Bindery are for creating dimension in your wedding flatlay photos. So I use the various sizes to raise up different layers of your stationery or even ring boxes if I want to surround them with florals. It all depends!

On top of all of that, I’ve taken courses and learned from some of the best in the industry how to take wedding flatlay photography. And no amount of tools will make your photos look good if you don’t know how to use them. I even keep a notebook from when I took Ashley Baumgartner’s Flatlay Course. It reminds me of the techniques and shots that I aim to get using my wedding photographer styling kit!
