Ohhhhh goodness, our hearts just get all giddy when we think about planning for great wedding photos! Especially when it comes to your wedding details.
Think about it—you put all this time and thought into planning for great wedding photos and wedding details for your guests and for your California wedding or wherever love takes you. Of course we want to photograph your wedding details in what photographers call wedding flatlays. And we’re going to tell you all about how you can plan for great wedding photos of your wedding details!
Any amount of details is worth being photographed, and we want to help you be planning for great wedding photos of your wedding details. Check out our top 5 favorite things to include in your wedding details when you’re planning for great wedding photos:
In the throes of planning for great wedding photos and all the other micro and macro details brides have to manage, it can easily be forgotten. So as soon as you receive your invitations from your vendors, save at least one (we recommend saving 5) for photos on your wedding day. We pair these with other details to create lovely flatlay designs that really show off your love and creativity!
Morgan and Shane’s fall winery wedding at Sycamore Creek Vineyards as Morgan Hill wedding venues called for rich tones of navy and maroon with rose gold and ivory details that made us just swooooon. Shelley and Austin’s September Italian villa boho inspired Allied Arts Guild wedding in Menlo Park had an earthier vibe with just enough bohemian elements to bring out that Tuscan flare.
When it comes to the wedding rings, these we definitely want to be planning for great wedding photos for your wedding details. We encourage our brides to delegate as much as possible, so this is an opportunity to do that! Give one of your bridesmaids the responsibility of making sure both your rings (engagement ring and wedding band if you have both) and your groom’s ring are available when your wedding photographer arrives. After that, we bring the groom’s ring with us to photograph his details (more on that later).
Stephanie & Andrew planned the most elegant black tie affair wedding at Gilroy Lodge on the Hill for a summer wedding, which means their details were luxurious to say the least! Just look at her rings (bottom right)!
This one is one of our favorites. It’s one of the most creative and thoughtful pieces to your wedding style because it’s so uniquely you! Whether it’s something colorful, sparkly or casual, we LOVE to photograph your bridal heels or bridal shoes when planning for great wedding photos of your wedding details.
(bottom left) We second shot for Ashley Baumgartner (see more from her!) at Lizzeth & Michael’s fall wedding at Rengstorff House in Mountain View, and it had some of the most beautiful light we’ve ever seen! Our first 2021 bride is planning her own Rengstorff House wedding in Mountain View! Lizzeth chose simple but classic white Keds for her bridal shoes, and it was the cutest thing!
If you needed an excuse to invest in some beautiful, luxurious scents, now is the time! You’re planning for great wedding photos and for your wedding details, perfume really elevates the luxury of your wedding style. It doesn’t even have to be a designer brand—but of course, we love those, and you deserve it girl. Whether it’s your great grandmother’s favorite perfume or your hubby’s, we encourage you to include this in your wedding day details!
Actually, this one might be our favorite detail of all the wedding details. Give us a cathedral veil and we’ll be dreaming of your wedding day for the rest of our lives. Something about them is just so regal, classic, romantic… modest even. And that is the most beautiful part about it! It may be traditional, but sometimes, traditions are beautiful for a reason. Wait till you see my (Angela’s) veil for our winter wedding at Clos La Chance! We LOVE to incorporate your veil into your wedding detail styling, so definitely don’t skip this one!
The guys don’t get left out of this important part of planning for great wedding photos! We adore groom’s details, and when a groom puts some thought into his groom wedding details, planning for great wedding photos is EASY! And it can be super fun for him, too!
See what Andrew did for his Stars Wars Day wedding last year (left). And if your groom doesn’t have many details, that’s okay, too! Check out Austin’s classy and simple style (right). Or maybe your groom is more like goldilocks and he’s somewhere in the middle—Eli’s details from his Sutter Creek winery wedding last year (second shot with Ashley Baumgartner—see more from her!) were perfect for him (middle) and Shane’s details from last fall’s Sycamore Creek Vineyards wedding were perfect for him, too (bottom)!
Planning for great wedding photos is fun, but definitely not required. And organizing all these details? That can be overwhelming. But the details are important, too, and we want you to remember just how beautiful all of it was. That’s what we’re here for!
