Okay so you’ve got the venue booked and invites have been sent out. Now we get to design your wedding ceremony. As far as how wedding ceremony goes you get to be creative! So where do you even begin? I am a Bay Area wedding photographer and Central Valley wedding photographer with 10 years of experience. I’ve seen so many ceremonies and they are all different!
WEDDING CEREMONY IDEAS
These ideas below are really great for American/western weddings. If that sounds like you, these ideas for how wedding ceremony goes will be perfect for you:
- Welcome: your officiant welcomes your guests and makes any announcements
- Processional: your VIPs walk down the aisle starting with family, then wedding party, flower girls or ring bearers, and then you.
- Message: your officiant will work closely with you to create this part; close loved ones do readings or a pastor does a sermon on marriage.
- Vows: write your own or recite vows from your officiant.
- Unity rituals: optional – you can incorporate a symbolic ritual of unity. Examples include: candle lighting, rope tying, hand fasting, tree planting, communion, etc.
- Exchange of rings: officiant will direct each of you to place the ring on your partner’s finger.
- Blessing: your officiant offers one final blessing or prayer over you
- Kiss: you know this one! You may seal this promise with a kiss!
- Recessional: you and your new spouse will go first (don’t forget to stop half way down your aisle for one more epic kiss! The photos are iconic), followed by your wedding party, and parents.
