It started in college. Two dorky kids. West Valley and UOP. It just so happened Danica made friends with a couple of guys from Morgan Hill Bible Church at West Valley Community College in Saratoga. These guys were leaders at MHBC’s Young Adults group where Jake had been going for awhile. One afternoon, the guys invited Danica to come check out our little group, and the day she came was the day that brought these two together. And it led to this stunning Kelley Park San Jose engagement session.
Almost immediately, the group knew that Jake and Danica were meant to be together. One night, their friends set them up on an “accidental” first date. It was normal for everyone to go to In-n-Out after group, but this time, their friends all bailed so that only the two of them ended up going.
And they spent hours just talking that night.
Not too long after, Jake made his move. He sent this dorky text: “Hi there. I have a proposition. It seems as though we mutually enjoy one another’s company, but we only ever see each other once a week. My suggestion is that maybe we could hang out more often than that?” A few dates and a backpacking trip later, Jake and Danica were official. That was almost 4 years ago. About a year ago, a group of us were at dinner before Young Adults, and Jake showed up a little late with the biggest grin on his face. Out of nowhere, he says, “So I just went shopping with my mom… for a ring.” MY JAW DROPPED. He even had his plan already in the works as to how he would ask her. The challenge would be waiting the extra two months.
After 2 years and 364 days of dating under their belts, Jake finally proposed with a beautiful sapphire engagement ring. He designed a device that could measure the heat and electricity produced by a lightbulb but reprogrammed it to ask Danica the big question. At the Maker Fair in San Jose, Jake handed his future bride the device and the rest is history.
We’re just a few short months away now from the wedding and I can’t wait to be a bridesmaid in this love story! It was such an honor to get to capture some brief moments in this season of engagement for these two at their Kelley Park San Jose engagement session! And there’s more to come because their wedding photographer is MY FAVE (a.k.a. the one and only Ashley Baumgartner).
Jake & Danica, your Kelley Park San Jose engagement session was such a blast! Never mind the fact we all got a little lost—Michael and I still could not stop pressing that shutter release! It was so hard to choose just a few to show from your Kelley Park San Jose engagement session. We are so thrilled for you two. We love you both so much, and are always always here for anything you ever need!
Love,
A&M
