But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.
—Psalm 103:17-18
When I think of a Christ-centered family, the Verdons automatically come to mind. Shani, the beautiful mother in these photos, started working at our church more than a year ago now (WOW), and I was honestly a little intimidated at first. She seemed so professional and knowledgeable. Shani, if you’re reading this, you’re probably laughing. And that is because she is one of the goofiest, sassiest and most wonderful people I know and I absolutely LOVE working with her. And what I love most about her is how, in all of the craziness and anxiety she feels in her life, I hear her say that she feels grounded with her husband, Dave. When we were out walking around and I was giving the family some instruction, Shani asked if she could hold Dave’s hand. “I’ll feel more grounded, more comfortable that way,” she said. Dave must be the sweetest man and more loving father for this family.
Their gorgeous daughter, Siena (left) has been in my small group for a year and a half now and I love her joyful laughter, the fact that we both have seen Moana twice now (I’m going again this week) and her unique perspective that brings a certain richness to the conversation at youth group. High school is no joke… and neither is middle school. Luke (right) is the brother of all brothers who makes jokes, messes with his sister and lights up the room. He’s a hoot and ridiculously cute (hey that rhymed).
I loved this family session—we had to hike to get to some of the best spots and battle some hills but it was all worth it to capture this family’s love for each other and for Jesus. I love you all!
