How can you be planning for great wedding photos before the big day? Okay, so you finally found your venue. You’ve locked in your dream photographer. You’re still trying to cut down your guest list (cause all of us brides know how quickly that list adds up!). You still need to decide between a band or a DJ… or both like Shelley & Austin did for their Allied Arts Guild wedding. It’s an exciting time with all these details to nail down for your wedding, but it can feel overwhelming, right?
As a fellow bride and groom, we are with you in this. And even though you’ve spent countless hours reading up on advice like this article from Brides.com and watched YouTube videos on what questions to ask your vendors like this one from Jamie Wolfer, we can’t possibly think of everything! After all, we’re all human.
So we want to help you with one of those things you probably aren’t thinking about in your wedding planning process: planning for great wedding photos. We know what you’re thinking—why should I worry about that? Won’t my photographer know what to do? The answer is ABSOLUTELY your photographer will know what to do, but there’s more to your wedding photography than just showing up and clicking the shutter.
We want you to look and feel your absolute best in your wedding photos, so we work throughout your planning process to organize your timeline for the best light, and we visit your venue or research it online in advance to get an idea of what the space looks like and the best locations for wedding photos, and we build out your family group combo list so that not a single important person is forgotten on your wedding day.
This is the beginning of a super fun mini series we’re doing on the Angela Sue blog called “Planning for Great Wedding Photos” in which we’re going to go through each part of your wedding day and give you all of our best tips and tricks that you can proactively be using to ensure you get the brightest, most beautiful photos of you and your new spouse! We’ve learned a lot over the last 5 years of being Bay Area Wedding Photographers, and we want to share it with you.
So here goes! First up: Getting Ready Photos.
