They met like anyone does nowadays. It started on a dating app. Her friends and family encouraged her to make a profile. He had been checking his profile for new matches. Their first date was only days after their profiles matched and shortly after, they were official.

When you know, you know. There’s no one right way to do relationships and each one is special in its own way. And Sean knew that he was going to marry Domi. He had a plan. He knew he was going to ask that big question. But we gave him the perfect opportunity to throw that out the window and create an even better surprise proposal for the love of his life.

I reached out to Morgan Kennedy of Morgan Leigh Photography in Walnut Creek a few months ago to chat about what a mentoring experience would look like with her. If you haven’t already followed her, Morgan his a hoot and a half times four—and I had a blast learning from her. Our session included a styled couples session, and we both LOVE Carmel, so when we invited couples to be our models for a Carmel couples session, Domi responded right away, and it was a resounding yes from Morgan!

Little did Domi know that in the meantime, Sean reached out and asked if he could pop the question for a surprise proposal during our session. Morgan and I could not stop saying YES YES YES! Gentlemen, here’s an idea: if you want to really surprise your girl, get your proposal photographed! We love proposals and are super talented at sneaking around!

After just a few minutes, Morgan gave Sean her super secret cue. This guy is creative—he spun Domi around a few times, gave her a sweet kiss, and while he held her there, his hand reached to his back pocket. He whispered to her, “I have a question for you,” and he dropped down to one knee, opened the box and asked Domi if she would marry him with a beautiful solitaire engagement ring.

Meanwhile, Morgan and I are crying and clicking away capturing every moment of this Carmel proposal. After Domi said YES (aahhh no surprises there!), we popped some champagne and went from having a styled couples session to a real life Carmel engagement session! And it was so. so. much. fun. 

Morgan: thank you so much for letting me pick your brain, spend time with you and shoot with you. I learned so much about so many things and I’m grateful to have gotten to know you and see you love on your clients so much. It was truly a blessing!!

Sean & Domi: thank you for letting us be a part of such an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime moment. The very moment you got engaged! You’ll be telling that story for the rest of your lives, and I can’t believe I got to share a piece of it. You two are a blast. We are praying for your marriage and can’t wait to see how the rest of your story unfolds!
