Ever wondered how some people have the most editorial-looking engagement photos? You see those photos on Pinterest of women in these gorgeous gowns and luxurious bouquets and probably think that that’s for them, not you. I’ve thought it—I can’t wear a gown like that so I’ll settle for something I already own. She looks so pretty with that flower crown, but a bouquet for my engagement session seems like too much, right? My fiancé doesn’t like photos so he probably wouldn’t want to do anything fancy.
We’re willing to bet all of those thoughts are wrong.
You’d be surprised what you can find on Amazon like this flowy chiffon skirt on Amazon that you can pair with a simple white or neutral top. We’ve found beautiful and colorful flowy tulle and chiffon skirts at Chic Wish that are just to die for! If you’re dreaming big, rent a stunning red carpet dress for your engagement session or portrait session from Rent the Runway or add a beautiful gown to your permanent collection! For my fellow plus size gals, I find a lot of flattering dresses and skirts from my home store Torrid and affordable dressy clothes for Michael at H&M. Even Target can have some really pretty casual dresses!
We highly encourage you to treat yo self just a little and make your next engagement session or portrait session that much more special.
And girl, let me tell you, flower crowns are the real deal. If you’ve always wanted to wear one, now is the time! Flower crowns are feminine, editorial and romantic—all those things describe my dream look, so any chance I get to wear a flower crown for a portrait session or our engagement session, you bet I’ll be rocking it for the rest of the day. I definitely did that after our San Francisco anniversary session. See what Lauren did with her flowers for her Santa Cruz Anniversary Portrait Session earlier this year. If flower crowns really aren’t your thing, a bouquet adds such an elegance to your engagement session or portrait session—and it looks really good next to your man too 😉
We worked with Mimi at Wildrose and Thyme to create this wild and colorful summer bouquet full of vibrant buds for a mini styled engagement and portrait session. We really wanted to showcase Mimi’s artistry and love for her work as well as bring some color back into our worlds. Whether this inspires you to get a bouquet or flower crown for your engagement session or portrait session or you’re just looking for some wedding flower inspiration, we had tons of fun creating this look for you and hope it breathes a little bit of life into your day!
Love,
A&M
