Edgy.
Bold.
One-of-a-kind.
About a year ago, my incredible wedding planner friend, Cera (from Cera Singley Events) approached me with an idea. An edgy, bold and one-of-a-kind idea for an incredible styled shoot featuring some of the Bay Area’s most talented wedding vendors. From the hair color to the tie selection to the marble and gold cake design to the custom calligraphy in the decor and invitations down to the details of the couple’s story, this edgy and bold styled wedding at Chapel on the Hill in Los Gatos, CA, is finally on the blog today!
When I think of the word edgy, I think of bold colors, tattoos, extreme florals and, of course, confident attitude. Nick and Miranda were those people. They were recently engaged at the time, and this edgy and bold styled wedding shoot evolved around them as the idea became more and more real. Their tattoos and colorful hair was interlaced in everything from the paper lanterns down to the simplistic nature of the dress. Earthy tones with pops of mustard yellow gave this styled wedding a celestial vibe I had never experienced at a wedding.
And the location!! It’s to die for! We featured a newly re-opened venue in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Chapel on the Hill. Originally built by retired Presbyterian minister, Morgan C. Webb, with his own hands in 1954, the chapel was opened to the public in 1955. It has since been restored by the Le family and couples who were married there over 60 years ago have been coming back to visit!
We really just wanted to give Nick and Miranda a taste of what their real wedding could be like. And we loved working together to create this beautiful and bold wedding style just for them. Nicole with Altogether Lovely designed this GORGEOUS marble, black & gold stationary suite including a custom wax seal over vellum and gold flakes on the table cards. Sara with Dubon Floral Design brought her A-game with STUNNING floral arrangements from a cascading ribbon bouquet to a simple yet show-stopping flower crown. And the flowers in the centerpiece!? I can’t even. Vintage Rentals gave us these one-of-a-kind wicker and leather couches and chairs to turn up the vintage feel in the decor. From Cera Singley Events’s lounge area design to the sweetheart table at the reception, she used grays, blacks, oranges and mustard yellows to make it pop against the breathtaking mountains. Our cake designer is one of the best around here! Rachel with Bay Cakes Design brought the vision to life with her four-tiered marble and gray cake with real sugar flowers and gold motifs. And the velvet linen over that table just makes that cake really shine. JD with Status Salon scored a gorgeous gown designed by Chic Nostalgia from Flares Bridal Salon and created an amazing look for our bride. That PURPLE HAIR THOUGH!
And one year later, these teammates are some of my favorites to work with. They are talented, experienced, professional and all-around good people. These are the kinds of vendors you want to work with. People who love their clients, love marriage and are team players. Each one of these incredible vendors is all of those things and more.
